Forgiven in the Tune of Coldplay

I don’t listen to K-LOVE, but every time I pass by lately, they seem to be playing “Forgiven” by Sanctus Real…
The song, overall, is great. Although I think there was just a little too much influence from Coldplay. But that’s just my opinion. I’m a Coldplay fan, I’m just saying, come on Sanctus Real that sounds just like… But the lyrics are incredible. And I probably wouldn’t have stopped and listened if it weren’t for, dare I say, the influence of Coldplay.
I’m forgiven, nothing more and nothing less. There is not a more appropriate term to describe me than, forgiven. At one point in my life, I was less than forgiven and now I have freedom to serve a faithful God. But I can never be more than forgiven, so I need to stop trying.
It’s very easy to rely on the “forgiven” part, as opposed to relying on the one who did the forgiving. Instantly when we sin, we are so quick to say, God will forgive. Or even, God has forgiven. Maybe it’s just me that does this, but I see that when I focus on being forgiven, that I tend to justify myself and my actions. For instance, I’m giving Sanctus Real a hard time for creating a song that sounds a lot like Coldplay, and this is just my opinion. If I’m wrong, it’s ok, I’m forgiven.
But instead, I believe this forgiveness should cause a relentless “Thank You” and that should then be followed with sharing the capability of this amazing forgiveness with others.
Yes I’m forgiven, but I should never see forgiveness as a “Get out of jail for free” card.
I know I’ve been hard on you, but great song Sanctus Real!

I forgot how much I loved this song. Musically it’s the most boring song but lyrically it screams me.

Big Buts
Mar 6th
I disagree with THIS.
The author of this post makes very good points. Actually, they are outstanding points. I just don’t agree with him because of the purpose that his title presents.
And is absolutely needed when we as mortals attempt to describe God. God is how you describe Him, AND how I describe Him, AND how they describe Him, AND so on. God says that He is I AM. We will always leave something out when we paint a picture of Him with words. The word and is inevitable.
So, on to my opinion about the most important Christian word. For me it is the conjunction but. Especially when you see the word but in THIS verse. I wouldn’t try to define God, if it wasn’t for this but.
This word but takes you from no hope to incredible freedom. What can I say, I like big buts and I cannot lie. AND this is a big BUT.
This Buds For You

I have been to a bar three times in my life. I am not talking the local sports bar or your local Applebees. I mean belly up to an actual bar. Two of those times were with pastors. The other time was at a train station in Chi town. There is a lot of noise about reaching out to those who are in bars, clubs, lounges, and so on.

I am one hundred percent confident that God supports this outreach style. Paul says the feet of those who bring the message of Christ are beautiful. So, if I am on a bar stool indulging a Shiner Bock, are my feet beautiful?
Paul precedes his feet comment with talking about the people he is attempting to reach. He says they are good people. He even says they are zealous about the law (they are Jews). I would likely say the same about my community. Overall, they are good people. They are sinners like me. They do not break the law.
No, even though I am a follower and I am in a bar having beer, my feet are not beautiful. Faith doesn’t jump off of you and onto someone else just because you are close to them. Belief in Christ doesn’t magically happen. To qualify my feet as beautiful, I have to open my mouth. Paul says faith becomes relevant when it is heard. Something must make noise before someone hears that said noise.
So go ahead, buy him that beer but tell him, “my Christ is for you.”

Hey you Facebook addicts, check this out.
Everybody is all about being “real” these days. Keep it real. Really? I don’t use Faceook and I didn’t use Myspace. I know, I know, I am out of touch with the population. That’s why I attempt to blog. I get to call the shots on here. The majority of the people, I assume, that might stop by, know me personally. So, I have to be real.
I wish someone would do a more calculated study concerning peoples willingness to expose their Facebook page. Is the average user embarrassed by who they are? Are they afraid people will find the facts hidden within their comments false? Is it a pure attempt at gaining the most friends?
If you clicked and read the link above, you noticed the buzz about the difficulty of deleting your account. This made me think of God’s view of the world. As hard as we try we can not hide from God. We can not blend in with the rest of our network unnoticed. God sees all. Basically God is watching a rated R, or even X, lifestyle when He looks down on us. But unlike Facebook the best part about God is that he offers a quick and easy delete button.
Here is a great example of someone who was “real” and pushed the delete button. God forgives, forgets, erases your browsing history, and will even delete your cookies.
